Girls and boys, after the thing with the stolen background is settled (or at least unreachable), and we are still waiting for the next script, the plan until conditions change is scary:

Coming up with stuff.

This week's Line promises to be fun to do, and the stories to pitch are crying to get out, so... hitting the drawing table, see if she cooperates.

Of course, this might be jinxing it all and calling urgent work for today :P

Have a nice week, folks.

(UPDATED: It seems the image was finally was taken down from the site, so, the link doesn't work anymore. Not sure if it's a victory, but works for me. So, the following rant is already outdated).

Girls and boys, I feel I'm finally getting there.

I have nothing but respect for Stan Winston and the Studio that carries on his legacy. Even more for the school that shares all of their incredible wealth of SFX knowledge. They regularly post fan art from all over the world in their page. Even a couple from yours truly now and then.

Yesterday, they posted a picture from someone who used my "Da Vinci Iron Man" series as a background, without credit, permission and with the website removed. The school gave me credit after I mentioned the fact, the guy laughed (literally, you can check the thread and image here:)

It's not up to me to judge on the value of someone else's work. This guy, Hasan, seems a capable artist in his own right. Why he's beyond giving an apology or at least recognizing he appropiated images, I don't know. He's very proud of the idea he had of just drawing Iron Man in the pose of one of the most imitated drawings in history. OK, more power to him. I hope he cleans up his act soon.

His response, after a lot of pressure, was removing the background stolen from me with one stolen from Leonardo.

Am I overreacting? Maybe, since he's not profiting (at least I hope so) from the image. I just think it's basic human decency recognizing when you imitate or "borrow" someone else's work. That's why we always write the "after Kirby" each time we draw another homage to Avengers 4, dammit.

Girls and boys, this week at the Line it is Drawn, we have comic book characters featured in famous music videos. I did juggle a lot of suggestions this week (despite this century's best efforts there's still a lot of great oldies out there), but I kept coming back to that of Harley Quinn performing Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart. With a little adjustments.

Works a lot better if you read and sing...

And now, for something completely different:

Girls and boys, this week at The Line it is Drawn, it's comic strips' time. This was suggested, and since Peanuts is one of my favorite strips ever, and AOS is a show I've come to really enjoy after their bumpy start, I went for it. I got to appreciate a lot more the genius of the simplicity Charles Schulz used in his drawing. No easy feat.
That being said, it's fun working in the strip format. I'll keep that in mind.

Girls and boys, this week at The Line it is Drawn, due to Star Wars returning to Marvel, we crossover the galaxy Far, far away with whatever they sent our way. GOTG was my favorite movie of last year, so I couldn't pass that up. So, there you go.

Vanessa: Pepper, this is not brunch with Captain Stubbing. These women are vicious, back stabbing, judgmental harpies. I know. They're my closest friends.

(When Vanessa is splitting up her estate, as she'll live forever, so she divides it up among the League and others, leaving 65 million dollars and her stocks to survive on.)
Black Canary: Meanwhile, I wonder who got the coat.
Diana: What coat?
Vixen: Vanessa's mink. She slept with it more than she slept with Lex.
Blue Beetle: Vanessa's husband's name was Hector.
Vixen: So where are you not following me?

Vanessa: I think I see now how it happened. Last evening at dinner, when Eska saw Korra give Bolin her room key she was furious. She droppeda steak knife into her purse-
Deadpool: Big deal, I took a whole place setting.
Vanessa: NOT NOW, WADE!!!
