A bit of the Jules Verne stuff

Description

Remember that dream project I was talking about long ago? Want a peek?

This is for an antology book that gets together 14 artists and 14 writers, with the purpose or reinventing, twisting, or doing something to 14 Jules Verne's stories, then doing six page comics about them... we're celebrating the centenary of Verne.

The book should be ready in about a month, and appear the first weekend of december at the International Book Fair of Guadalajara, supposedly the third largest book fair in the world... fingers crossed.

In the meantime, a local writer called Cesar Gomez crafted a truyly demented story based on two Verne's tales: The Helix Island, and Maese Zachary (I think that's the translation, apologize if not), about a mathematical city, and a craftmanship who creates wonderful robots... I jumped when I got the script, I thought it was taylor made for me.

This was an odd project... I only had about two weeks for finishing the eight pages (our story needed to be longer), and had to do the pencils, inks, color and lettering... the book will be printed in two inks to give it an ancient look, and that was alien territory to me. I wish I had more time to do this, but anyway, that's how things are in this tropical country ;)

This looks quite different from my usual stuff, I guess. I didn't usually play with panel shapes, but in this page we're telling about a society that works like a swiss clock thanks to the robots, so I felt the cog-like panels fit... I might continue doing these tricks in the future.

Hope you like it...
