Don Quixote by AxelMedellin Don Quixote by AxelMedellin
Sketch and inks in the scraps section...

Well, I fiddled a lot with the colors, I tried to get a more "fantastic" feel than usual, didn't mind much for the realistic details but for the overall effect... this was colored in about three hours. It was fun doing this, I hadn't drawn a character from literature before. Maybe I'd do it different if I had more time, but anyway... there you go.

First part in a trilogy...

I wonder how they would sing,
it would be totally cool to go see "Man Of LaMancha" with a set design like this.

That's amazing. His journey has made him so haggard he ceases to be a man.

Only found this during a gallery trawl...missed it back when it was Daily Deviation...

This is a really intersting interpretation of Quxiote -- I love the way you've built the classic elements of the character and his features (the barber's bowl 'helmet', the look of pained madness, the physicque etc) and given them both aquatic and futuristic/fantasy updates. You deserve everything positive that's been said about this.

I've looked at the other two alos, and I like the way the themes been carried. I guess the jokes about 'Sancho' is aprtly lost on me, but it's still amazing work.

Thanks a lot... that was a pretty well-informed comment.

LOL, the Sancho thing is a totally mexican joke... I simply don't know why, we just call that the one who cheats with the wife.

I get the Sancho joke, but only because you've explained it... oh man, I feel like I've insulted you somehow lol...

Nevermind :)

No insult at all, man...

It's like the Muffin Man jokes in Shrek... I only got them because someone explained that to me...

lol Yeah, I had to get the Muffin Man jokes explained to me, too. Maybe it's less a cultural thing and more a 'I'm a doofus' thing.

I like a lot of pieces in your gallery, but I must agree with the person who chose this for DD because it's my favourite piece of yours. I love how you handled the lighting, and the colours. The metal looks trully metalic, and the dripping water gives off the impression he just rose from underneath the water. I think what i like the most about it however, that even though it's digital it looks like traditional media. And your use of brushes is lovely :)
