Another of the winning ideas for the little contest, this one by that talked about a phoenix based on water or earth instead of fire.

Well... actually the image of the phoenix as a bird of fire has little to do with the original legend, the phoenix was a pretty boring bird, except for its ability to burn to ashes when it got old and be reborn from the ashes... I played a bit with the idea of doing this as a bird made of water, but decided to go with an impossible fish/bird hybrid. Hope you like it, man.

Well it's a good thing I red the capiton, but a phoenix based on water is called a Halcyon

The contrast between the transparent fins and the rough scales is really great. Pinpoint posing as well. :)
