I clicked on this picture expecting a skeletan monster, and instead it turns out to be twice as awesome. I know about Jason's story and am guessing that this is where the skeleton came from...hmm...I just cannot get over the fact of how cool a robot ancient soldier looks. Ok, I won't continue babbling and instead will end with:
Ah, glad someone else knows the myths...
And it would be cool to see the Trojan war given the "Alexander/Reign: The Conqueror" past-is-future treatment. Just please, DON'T purge the story of the God's involvement. That's one important time in western history when "Mythos" separated from "Logos".
"We Spartans are descended from Hercules himself..." ---WRONGGGG!!!!!
In the quest for the Golden Fleece, Jason sowed the teeth of the Hydra into the ground to overcome an obstacle. These teeth grew quickly into skeleton warriors and helped Jason in his quest.
Later, they ate some meat and grew flesh and turned into men. But they were different from other men, they were the Spartans, and since battle was all they were made for they sought their fortune as mercenaries...
--That would have been awesome if they put that in the movie, and took out the right wing spin.
Leonidas did personally claim descent from Hercules. However, given Hercules' libido anyone with greater than average strength could make that claim with little fear of contradiction.
