Girls and boys, this week on The Line It is Drawn, Tarzan and comic book characters. Someone suggested the Elephantmen, and I kinda thought I knew something about those.

The full gallery here... and it all rocks:

Oh, yes. But he did defeat a ship full of Predators, so, who knows.

As if the art isn't gorgeous enough, your words rule, man. Your pieces almost always elicit a chuckle from me and when they don't, I'm just awestruck.

Peace.

Really? You have an anthropomorphic hippo attacking a hereditary English lord raised by apes, and we're debating the linguistic merits of the joke?

Me, I'm wondering how much it will cost to buy this series, if the artwork and premise are this crazy as a rule...

Oh, Becca, I'll have to lure you somehow... how about the hippos, elephants and rhinos in astronaut gear exploring Mars?

How about this? Post a picture, and I'll draw you in a future issue. I don't make that offer often!

I think, far more disconcerting than the rampaging hippo is the fact that Tarzan needs someone to peal the banana for him ... this could be an indication of severe brain damage, or perhaps a stroke.

Or it might be that you are just not getting the joke.

I get the play on words, but unless she's just using that as a last minute excuse it doesn't make much sense ... and since Tarzan is swinging in it seems unlikely she was skinning his banana just moments before.

Please. Just relax and let it go. Please.

My point was, I got the joke, my thing about brain damage was *also* a joke - which you apparently didn't get. So I'd say we're about even on this hand, what say we just split the pot.

Why would someone need help peeling a banana?

I know it's supposed to be an innuendo, but I'm saying it's an innuendo that doesn't work very well.

I understood the joke right off the bat. But I'm saying it's not a very well-executed joke because the intended double meaning does not carry through both ways.

You can check everything about the story here:

Basically, there are human-animal hybrids made from elephants, hippos, rhinos and other species, but "Elephantmen" is sort of the generic name the future society labels them with. I don't have the link, but you can read issue 1 at Comixology for free.
