TLIID 257. The Spider-Man gang in Dealer's choice

Girls and boys, this week at The Line it is Drawn we pay homage to Wes Craven, who just last week passed away, by throwing comic book characters into his movies.

For those of you who have no idea what is this thing I chose: I love monster movies, but I'm not really into slasher films. So, while I appreciate the iconic status of Freddy Kruegger and Ghostface, I don't think I've watched any of the Nightmare at Elm Street or Scream movies from start to finish. Just not my thing.

But that's just a part of the ouvre of Wes Craven. In the early eighties, we was called to helm a new incarnation of The Twilight Zone. He was part of the creative team, and he directed half a dozen episodes, which are some of the best genre TV ever made. Period. Yes, it's a show that is turning thirty this fall, and it still sends shivers through my spine with that intro and everything that comes afterward. Genius writing, great imagination, all those infamous twist endings, a plethora of talent. Sacrilegious as it may sound, I like this TZ better than the original. OK, the first season, since two and three are mostly crap. But when it hit the right notes, it SOARED.

So, the suggestion read: Gwen, Harry, MJ and Peter Parker playing cards with Mephisto in the TZ episode Dealer's Choice. I couldn't resist.
