Been sort of disconnected lately...

Well, today Elephantmen 80 is out in the world... you can check a preview here:

imagecomics.com/comics/release…

I started with one page in issue 25, almost 8 years ago, and I ended up drawing 40+ issues with some coloring and short stories and loose pages here and there... something over a thousand pages of pencils and colors. Not much in the great scheme of things, but, well.

This is the last issue of this run... so, a bit nostalgic today.

Have a nice week, folks.

Hey, everyone... still alive here and working.

The next post will be my schedule for my activities from today on at the FIL Guadalajara (International Book Fair), hence in spanish:

19:00 - 23:00, Mesa 10

Sábado 2 de dic:

19:00 - 21:00, Mesa 4

Domingo 3 de dic:

11:00 - 13:30, Mesa 4

Oh, well, we're never ready... just a little less unaware...

What's drawn is drawn, what's packed is packed, and what doesn't fit at the suitcase stays...

This is my 19th Comic-Con in a row... sometimes it fells the same as always, sometimes it's brand new, sometimes it makes me want to run to hide under the bed until it's all over... SDCC is a cruel mistress... but she's so damn irresistible.

There's one thing I've learned... at least one, in all this time. And it has held true every single time. No matter how exhausting, overwhelming, dissapointing, or plain depressing most of the show can get to be... there's always... every single time, one moment. You get to know someone, not necessarily famous. You get to find some treasure. You get some opportunity. It can be just anything. But, every single time, theres at least one moment when you say: I LOVE YOU, COMIC-CON.

And here we go again.

This time, as usual (but maybe for the last time, with the series ending and all that) I'll be at the Comicraft / Elephantmen booth, #2106, in front of DC... I'll have a bunch of original art for sale, some prints (the classic mechanical chameleon among them), there will be free sketches, stop by and say hi... I don't have a schedule, so I guess I'll be on and off, but never too far away.

On Friday at 5:00 PM I'll be at the Aspen Booth, #2320, also in front of DC, on other side, signing the John Carpenter's The Thing Tribute book...

And I could not say there will be prints of the Antiope / Wesley image... but if you see someone with that in a t-shirt it could not hurt to ask...

See you there!

Wow... three months since I journaled here... ok, I guess life really gets in the way.

A little over three weeks to SDCC... I haven't had the time to actually think about it this time... too much chaos around. But, well, let's see how it goes.

I had to skip this week's Line due to some of that chaos... I usually take pride in not missing any weeks, and it's been two this year already. But all the sampling and stuff should pay off.

In the meantime, a rare opportunity, should you be curious about those Elephantmen yours truly keeps talking about... there's a big EM sale at Comixology, ending next monday June 26th:

www.comixology.com/Elephantmen…

All digital collections and single issues at 50%... yes, I know, nobody likes advertising, but, well, if you have a virtual dollar or two and would like to try something new, my work starts appearing at issue 25... 51-55 are a highlight... 36-39 are not bad either... 65-69 are a blast... 47-49 have my most ambitious space scenes... oh, well, I'm just ranting... if you just feel like browing, you can preview a few pages of each issue.

Back here before SDCC... have a nice weekend, folks!

Girls and boys, it's been a while. These have been some crazy months.

First, an apology. Yes, I still have to get around to the three free comissions on the 5000 watchers contest. So sorry, my free time has been pretty much non-existent. But I will get to them after this trip I'm just about to tell you:

Next week I'll be at WonderCon in Anaheim, at the Elephantmen / Comicraft booth #1012, pretty much all day from Friday to Sunday. Stop by, say hi, get a free sketch, maybe even pick some nice books or some original art while you are at it.

It's my first US convention ever that's not Comic-Con, so I'm uncertain at what to expect.

See you there!

Girls and boys, here we go:

As we mentioned before, the 5000th watcher spot and free color commission goes to :iconcolletteturner:

And through a hi-tech process involving strips of paper, pen, closed eyes and a bag, the two lucky (or unlucky) winners of a free comission each are:

:iconsomatichaberdashery:

and

:iconbunnyfriend:

Congratulations, feel free to post your request here, or send me a note.

Thanks for participating. More stuff coming soon.

Have a nice week, folks!

Girls and boys, we got a winner...

The 5000th watcher spot and free color commission goes to :iconcolletteturner:

Thanks and congrats!

But I'm very happy with this kiriwhatever-you-call-them, so I'm giving away another two commissions. Open deadline on these, folks, they can be done in a week or in two months. But they will be done. Sexy is fine, but hardcore stuff is out of the question.

You just have to work a bit for one of them...

To be eligible, you have to be watching this humble DA, and comment on this journal entry. You know, something original as "I want the free commission", "I'm in", whatever... new watchers are welcome, too. You have until next friday to get in the game, when I'll just randomly take two picks out of the hat from all those interested. Fair deal?

Thanks and have a nice weekend, folks!

So, I thought I'd do something nice to thank you all, folks...

Watcher #5000 gets a free color commission...

And after that... I'll make a raffle for some more free commissions among my awesome watchers...

There you go.

That time of the year already?

Oh, well... just as last year, chasing deadlines and searching for a new place. The usual.

For those who don't know the drill: Inktober is that month of the year when one should make a drawing in ink (on real paper and all the works) every day. I think this is my third year taking part of the challenge. I'll be posting the results every day here, starting tomorrow.

Let's see how it goes...

Girls and boys, things are all over the place.

One would think five weeks are too much for a SDCC aftermath, but that's more or less the time it gets me to re-adjust to a more or less functional schedule (it overlaps with the start of the school year, so there's that). Kids and productivity are sort of natural enemies...

Oh, well.

I have that urge of creating something...

Well... it's that time of the year again... Comic-Con next week...

So far it seems I'll be at the Elephantmen / Comicraft booth #2106 from thursday to saturday, 1-4 PM. Should anyone want to stop by and say hi.

Maybe I'll be sometime at the Heavy Metal booth, I'll update if when / if I get word about that.

I'll definitely be making the rounds at any other time...

Five days to go and the fun doesn't stop...

Have a nice weekend, folks, see you there...

Well... odder than usual.

I just realized there are less than 10 weeks to SDCC... which means I should be doing a lot of stuff already. Not easy when the kids are growing like weed and seem to want to spend time with yours truly on a daily basis.

Oh, well.

I did apply to the DC workshop... let's see what happens.

Have a nice weekend, folks!

Now, this is an interesting year so far... will be getting more interesting, probably.

Elephantmen #69 took longer than was expected, but it's wrapped up and off to the printer. Maybe it's been my more challenging issue yet, so, hopefully worth the extra time.

In two weeks I should be roaming La Mole, Mexico's largest comic book convention. I'll be at the official Heavy Metal booth. Let's see how it goes.

And yes... it seems a lot of time for SDCC, but there are less than five months left... hitting those Souvenir book pieces... lots of things to prepare this time.

And yes, two kids at home are double the fun. Not tiring or stressful at all. Easy. Help.

Keep having fun, folks.

Girls and boys, how's the year going so far?

Well... here at the evil lair it's been fun and games with the season... now it's the season to be drawing. A lot more than before.

Oh, and Elephantmen 68 is out today. A previe here:

Girls and boys, this has been quite a year... new baby, new place, stuff to draw... I won't even go into world affairs.

Elephantmen 68 is wrapped up, and it's less than two weeks for The Force Awakens. So, there's that.

Let's see how much work can be done in advance, I'm looking forward to close the year with some days of just sprawling on the coach with Netflix. Not even chill.

Have a nice weekend, folks.

Girls an boys, even with the still fresh house move (in Halloween, ferchrissakes) life goes on. Inktober was fun... sort of taxing...

Elephantmen 67 is out in the world this week. As usual, written by Richard Starkings and drawn by yours truly.

Girls and boys, it's that time of the year again.

Inktober: it's a yearly challenge, where one has to make a drawing in ink each day. I did it last year (you can find the pieces in the gallery somewhere), and I'll try to improve it this time.

Drawlloween: I just found out about this. It's another challenge, where they put a list of Halloween related-themes. Apparently there's no technique assigned, but I'm putting them both together, and see what happens.

To wit, the themes for each day are:

1. Ghost
2. Devil
3. Goblin
4. Vampire
5. Werewolf
6. Pumpkin
7. Haunted house
8. Zombie
9. Eyeball
10. Alien
11. Raven
12. Moon
13. Frankenstein
14. Bat
15. Amulet
16. Grave
17. Demon
18. Mask
19. Creature From the Black Lagoon
20. Skull
21. 8-bit-zombie
22. Candy
23. Gore
24. Skeleton
25. Mummy
26. Rat
27. Witch
28. Black Cat
29. Scarecrow
30. Spider
31. Dragon

I'll be posting them daily, so, let's see what happens.

Have a nice week, folks.

Girls and boys, there have been quite some news around the studio here. Namely, that we have to look for a new living space. And that we happen to have a new heir who is just eight days today. Cute kid, even if I say so myself... so, a very interesting year.

Anyway, we also have a new comic book tomorrow. Elephantmen 66, from Image Comics, written by Richard Starkings and drawn and colored by yours truly. As usual, its a labor of love, but it's rare that we get some love back. It turns out IGN got us on this week's "Top" list:

www.ign.com/articles/2015/09/2…

So, check it out if you have the chance. It turns out I have to buy lots of diapers.

UPDATE: It turns out there IS a preview:
